Catherine’s practice focuses on intellectual property and technology transactions, with an emphasis on technology licensing.  Catherine’s experience includes negotiating a wide variety of technology and licensing agreements for companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies in various industries covering entertainment, gaming, sports, social media, consumer products, manufacturing, healthcare, financial services and retail. 

 

Catherine’s extensive in-house legal and business experience enables her to provide her clients with effective solutions that balance legal strategies, business goals and enterprise risk.

 

Prior to joining Acceleron Law Group, Catherine was the Intellectual Property and Technology Counsel at DreamWorks Animation LLC.  During her 14 years in the Business Affairs Department, she handled various technology agreements for all divisions, including Animation Technology, Information Technology, Production, Consumer Products, Marketing, Human Resources, and Technology Initiatives, where she received film credit on more than 25 movies.  Additionally, Catherine was the head of DreamWorks’ Patent Bonus Program which was created to increase its IP portfolio by incentivizing its employees to submit patent applications. 

 

Prior to joining DreamWorks, Catherine developed an international IP practice at the Orange County and Los Angeles offices of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.  In addition to working on IP licensing, commercial agreements and M&A transactions, Catherine helped head the trademark prosecution practice and handled the domestic and international trademark portfolios of the firm’s clients. 

 

Catherine was a Biological Sciences major at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  She received her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she was the business manager and comment writer for the UCLA Law Review.  In her spare time, Catherine loves spending time with her family, usually watching her children play sports.  Occasionally, Catherine sneaks away to play sports, preferably golf or tennis.
