Julie’s practice focuses on strategic and commercial transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, equity and debt financing, partnerships and joint ventures, contracts, entity formation and structuring, and other general corporate matters. She also handles SEC and other regulatory compliance issues. She represents companies in a variety of industries, including financial services and technology.

 

Previously, Julie was a partner at Russ August & Kabat, a Los Angeles-based law firm, where she helped develop the firm’s corporate practice, advising clients on a broad range of matters, including mergers & acquisitions, entertainment contracts and celebrity endorsements public and private equity financings, SEC compliance, licensing, employment and contractor agreements, shareholder matters, real estate funds, and partnership and LLC agreements. 

 

Prior to joining Russ, August & Kabat, she practiced with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and at Clifford Chance Rogers & Wells in Washington, D.C., in the fields of cross-border finance, securities, and international mergers and acquisitions.

 

Julie also enjoys teaching and mentoring young lawyers. She is currently Head of Experiential Learning at AltaClaro, an online legal-skills training platform, and an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School where she teaches a course in business planning. She also previously served as Associate Professor of Lawyering Skills and Associate Director of LL.M. Legal Writing at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law where she taught mergers and acquisitions, transactional lawyering skills, contract drafting, and legal writing.

 

Julie graduated summa cum laude and valedictorian of her class from Colorado State University. She received her J.D. cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was senior staff editor of Law and Policy in International Business and associate director of Georgetown Barristers’ Council. Julie is an active member of the California State Bar Corporations Committee and frequently presents seminars and workshops on securities and business law topics.
